Evelyn Hartogh is an academic writer/performer. She regularly publishes in local and international academic and alternative publications. Since 1992 she has performed at galleries, nightclubs and festivals in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In 1994 she made headlines when she VACUUMED the QUEEN STREET MALL dressed as WONDER WOMAN. She has extensive experience in managing and publicising events, as well as university teaching. She has two Masters degrees and loves cats.
In 2009 she performed her first autobiographical show WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN PRINCESS for the Brisbane GLBTI Pride Festival Cabaret HOMONUEROTIC presented by Chris Maver Productions and The Judith Wright Centre for Contempory Arts.
In 2008 she organised the CARRY ON TRASH VIDEO CABARET BENEFIT and encourages all Brisbanites to patronise Trash Video to enjoy and preserve their library of rare and alternative cinema.
In 2006, after fifteen years of performing her original scripts in Brisbane venues, she debuted her first one-woman show, the full length play KICK KISS KILL, at the 2006 BRISBANE FESTIVAL THEATRE FRINGE. She has two MASTERS DEGREES, one in WOMEN'S STUDIES from GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY and the other in CREATIVE WRITING from the UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND.
Evelyn has written a great deal of book reviews for a number of academic journals and wrote for QUEENSLAND PRIDE NEWSPAPER from 2000 to 2009 under the editorship of the late Iain Clacher. Former Queensland Pride Editor the late Iain Clacher mentored Evelyn to write her column 'Pop Cult Sheroes' (2000-2004). Between 2002 and 2008 she wrote 'Pop Tarts' for LOTL MAGAZINE, and is currently compiliing her QP and LOTL columns into a book of SHEROES. This book will be dedicated to the late Iain Clacher.
Between 1998 and 2001 she organised the Brisbane GLBTI Pride Festival queer cabaret ART LOVE JAM that sought to combat youth suicide by offering an accepting environment for emerging and established queer and queer-friendly performers.

THE DRINKING PARTY COMIC EPIC POEM 2008
